Another big weekend of racing took place at the Gold Coast Off-Road Challenge on the weekend on November 7-8.  Kyle McBride was on fire all weekend and especially in 1/8th truck class.

After setting a blistering pace in qualifying in the 1/8th truck class, Kyle dominated every heat race taking T.Q. using the JConcepts Cross hairs in Blue compound.  In the 45 minute A-main Kyle’s RC8T was unstoppable leading from start to finish.  Cross Hairs once again were the tire of choice and with plenty of tread on the tires Kyle clearly was just getting started.

Steven Hartson, together with JConcepts, wins Hutchinson Fall Classic

Steven Hartson arrived in Hutchinson, Kansas on Friday Nov 13 to a dry 68 deg weather. The indoor track was wet clay and the tire of choice were the JConcepts gold Bar-Codes made into slicks. After about 3 hours practice the tire choice had changed slightly as Steven chose JConcepts blue Bar-Codes made into slicks. As the day developed so did the set-ups and towards the end of the first day Steven’s tire choice was full pin blue Bar-Codes as the temperature dropped.  Indoor racing in the winter requires an acute sense of changing conditions; Team Hartson had to be on top of the game.

Saturday was for stock class racing and an excellent time for Steven and crew to meet the locals and assist anyone that needed help with their cars, set-up or tire selection. Sunday was going to be 4 rounds of qualifying and triple A-mains for the modified classes. (more…)

David Joor with his JConcepts equipped electric 1/8th buggy took the R/C Pro Finals by storm.   Joor has been diligently preparing for the RC Pro International Finals by attending several RCP events during the year.  Winning and the RC Pro Texas State Finals in Austin, RC Pro South in Bossier City, and RC Pro Texas 4th round in San Antonio provided the ground work for the finals.

Although not his first rodeo, Joor appeared as a slight underdog heading into the finals with ace Team Losi driver Billy Fischer taking the TQ.  In the triple A-main format David had his sights locked in on a victory, however it would not come easy.  With a confident set-up adjustment and trusty JConcepts Crossbow tires Joor won the 2nd and 3rd A-main taking the coveted new title.

After the event, Joor had this to say regarding the JConcepts products.  “I came to the event loaded with all the JConcepts products I thought I would need for the event.  From Tuesday to Sunday I ran the same set of Crossbow tires in blue compound and you can’t even tell they were run.  Needless to say I’m very impressed.”

Paul Wynn, JR Mitch and JConcepts win big at the 2009 ROAR Region 4 Off-road Championships.

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Paul Wynn - Winner - 800Paul Wynn, JR Mitch and JConcepts win big at the 2009 “ROAR” Region 4 Off-road Championships.

This past weekend the ROAR Region 4 Off-road Championships was hosted by the Coral Springs R/C Car Club. CSRCCC is home to one of the finest tracks/clubs in the State of Florida and once again did not disappoint.

CSRCCC surface is one to write home about and Paul Wynn took full advantage with his JConcepts equipped Factory Team B4 & T4. Qualifying in the 2nd position in the highly competitive 2wd Mod class, Paul quickly took the lead on the first lap from JC teammate Ryan Eckert. The race battle continued for the entire 6 minutes between Paul and Ryan, but in the end it was Paul taking the win followed by Ryan.

Straight off the 2wd mod win Paul set his sights on Mod Truck. Paul quickly took the lead on the 2nd lap from his 3rd qualifying position, and once again had a great battle early on with another teammate JR Mitch. With JR having an electrical problem, Paul would cruise to another victory followed closely by teammate Zach Genova.

Multi-time Region 4 champion JR Mitch was looking to add a new title to his list of accomplishments, Short Course Modified.  Utilizing his JConcepts equipped SC10, JR set a blistering pace in the A-main and looked to take control early.  A close battle emerged throughout the A-main but JR (more…)

2009 Clash - 800

We are roughly 1 month away from the 2009 JConcepts Clash.  Entries continue to flow in and once again we expect a great turnout.   We had over 266 entries last year and we expect more this year.   Sign-up here online or call 352-241-4976 to sign-up over the phone.

Expect a fantastic competitive turn-out of some of the largest names in R/C.  I have spoke with the Hurricane Club and all signs point to a fantastic event.  Dave Warr and Joey Perez have been coordinating with the Park Rangers and notified them of the expectation and size of the event and should have things completely under control.   The pre-Clash layout has started to take shape (please see photos).  This is not 100% of the Clash layout but only an example of the work in progress. Expect a technical layout with a blue or black groove surface.  A warm-up race will be held on November 29th.  Mark your calendars! J

2-time Clash defending 1/8th buggy champion Ryan Maifield will be back fresh off his Punishing Nationals run at the 2009 ROAR Nats.  Expect a heated battle!   Ready to give Ryan some serious competition is 2-time IFMAR World Champion Ryan Cavalieri who has signed on to compete along with Team Associated Team Manager Brent Thielke to race in this year’s event.   Another IFMAR World Champion driver has expressed interest and we are waiting for a confirmation before we make that announcement.

Defending champion and Florida local JR Mitch will be back to defend his 1/8th truck championship.  Can anyone beat JR in 1/8th truck?

Lee Martin defending 2wd and 4wd champion will be back to defend the coveted titles.  Perhaps an up and comer will have something for him?  Will a driver from the past have what it takes to take him down?

Event: 2009 Electric Fall Classic

This past weekend Leisure Hours Raceway presented the 2009 Electric Fall Classic. With over 140 entries this year, it would prove to be another great event presented by Leisure Hours Raceway. In the competitive 2wd Modified class it was Chad Due, driving his JConcepts equipped Factory Team RC10B4, who was able to TQ with the only 18 lap run of the day. Using TQ honors and JConcepts Gold Barcodes to his advantage, Chad was able to jet away from the field and secure the top spot on the podium. 4wd Modified again saw Chad Due, driving his JConcepts equipped Factory Team RC10B4, taking the TQ honors. In the main unfortunate circumstances took Chad out early leaving local Wisconsin driver Steven Just, also equipped with JConcepts Gold Barcodes to victory lane. Thanks again to everyone at Leisure Hours raceway for another great event.

Tanner Denney wins Intermediate 1/8th truck at the 2009 Sidewinder Shootout.

Arizona native, Tanner Denney, clearly had his race face on while attending the 2009 Sidewinder Shootout.  Tanner, driving his JConcepts equipped RC8T, was in prime position throughout the A-main but it was his consistency, dynamic driving ability combined with the JConcepts Punisher body, Cross Hairs tires and Mono wheels that gave him the edge and propelled him to success.   Tanner adds the Sidewinder Shootout to his already lofty resume of success with JConcepts.

2009 JConcepts Bash – report

Monday, November 9th, 2009

studOnce again JConcepts teamed up with Extreme Hobby Zone for the 2nd Annual JConcepts Bash. Drivers from all over the State of Florida were in attendance for what proved to be some of the closest racing this year.

Friday morning we packed up the trailer and headed out to EHZ for setup and final track prep. Upon arriving we quickly noticed the track was in premiere shape as Rich and the EHZ crew did a fantastic job with the surface. We setup camp and then proceeded with the final touches to the track.

By mid/late afternoon racers started showing up for some practice. I watch a few guys run and the temptation got to me; first out was the buggy! The buggy was dialed and after about 10 minutes I decided to get the truck out for a few laps. The truck was also working well, but I would need some fresh kicks on both cars for the first round in the morning. I took some time to bench race with some of the other racers and then mounted up some tires under the lights for Saturday.

Saturday morning arrived and I was pretty excited about racing. Fred “monster truck” Reep and I had an early breakfast run to McDonalds where we witnessed someone that apparently woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This guy in front of us just finished placing his order and when the cashier handed him his cup, he proceeded to yell at her about his order being to go. She calmly said “yes sir I understand, but the drinks are self serve and your order will be bagged for take-out”. Guess it didn’t register because he looks at his cup, then back at her and again started yelling at her about his order being to go….What a Jerk!

We arrived at the track around 8:15am and the track was looking great. Halloween decorations throughout, Fred had the tunes pumping, and entries were coming in. After a few hours of open practice, everyone was ready for some qualifying action.

Qualifying got underway with stock truck opening things up. Right from the tone Ron Beabout and Chris Richmond went to battle matching times lap for lap, but after 2 rounds Ron took the TQ spot followed up by Chris.

I was up next in mod truck and the field was stacked with some great competition. From the beginning everyone was right on pace taking turns leading both heats, but in the end JR was the man on top after 2 rounds. Brett Kingsbury, Sherwin Diaz, and I rounded out the top 4.

Super Cup – Fall Series – Round #3

Monday, November 9th, 2009

JessiesIt was time for a new twist in the Super Cup as we headed into Round 3.  Extreme Hobby Zone in Winter Haven is a new stop on the Super Cup series and I have to say I’m pretty excited.  Hobby Zone presented us with a smaller track than we are used to but right away I noticed that it made for extremely competitive racing.   Qualifiers and drivers were separated by very little which made every lap so important.

Our trip started with getting packed up and making the 1 hour drive to Winter Haven.  We were ready and when we arrived the track was already about 75% ready to go.  Paul jumped out onto the track and started directing some jump building while I parked the trailer.  We had a new eager racer Austin Blankenship and his father who were also helping with the track and Austin’s dad helped with backing up the trailer.

Once the trailer was in position it was time to unpack and start a little practice.  I bummed a couple practice laps from Sherwin and others.  Track was fun and my buggy was now charged and ready.    Double Dees in the rear and groovy’s in the front were the dialed setup early.   Everything felt good and I was ready for Saturday.

Friday night we met up with Rich Muller at Longhorn and once again Paul and I both had the parmesan crusted chicken.  Pretty good stuff!

After dinner we hit the local hangout, Jessie’s.   Jessie’s is the local bar that has an assortment of games and to our delight, Craig Lowe and Rich taught Paul and I a new game called sand shuffle board.   I was disappointed that this didn’t require any R/C car knowledge or ability but I thought I would give it a shot anyways.  J  After some practice Paul and I got the hang of things and we were quite competitive. I believe Craig and Rich will be looking for a re-match pretty soon. Ha-ha

Saturday morning we set-up our pits and looked over the track and helped arriving drivers get sorted.  The race appeared to be a great turnout and I believe this is a great facility for our Super Cup events.   I got the B4 ready and hit the track for a morning practice run again with my Double Dees rear tires and Groovy fronts.  I was happy with the balance and I figured with the track drying out the vehicle was only going to get better.
